NYX Haul!

NYX Haul

NYX is one of my favourite drugstore beauty brands (and probably one of my favourites of all time in general) because they offer an enormous selection of products that are comparable to the quality of high end products, but they're a fraction of the price. The only problem with NYX is that they're close to impossible to find in Canada, and when you finally do find a place that carries the brand they have a pretty minimal selection. Luckily I'm in Alberta for the summer and a drugstore called London Drugs carries a huuuuuge selection and they offer free shipping if you subscribe to their newsletter! Needless to say I got a little carried away...

The first thing I picked up is the NYX Wonder Pencil in Light. I've been using this as a reverse lip liner, basically outlining the outside of my lips to act as a guide for my liquid lipsticks. I was hoping that this would make my lips look a little more defined, but so far I haven't been wowed. Maybe I'm using it wrong? It's really creamy and blendable so it's great in that sense, but it hasn't been something I've been constantly turning to since I bought it. It's a multi-purpose product so you could also use it as a concealer or cover stick to hide pesky blemishes! Just make sure to sharpen in between uses so you don't spread around bacteria.

NYX Matte and Prismatic Eyeshadows

If you have a cool skin tone, you know how difficult it is to find cool toned crease colours (especially matte ones!) so I decided to pick up a couple shades of the NYX Matte Shadows. The colours I chose are Bare My Soul (left) and Haywire (right). They're both STUNNING. They're creamy, super pigmented, and easily blendable. I also haven't had any problems with creasing which I know can be a problem with lower end eyeshadows. Bare My Soul is perfect for an everyday look, whereas Haywire is a more dramatic colour that looks a lot more brown and less purple once actually on the lid.

Next I decided to try the new NYX Prismatic Eyeshadow which I'm completely head over heels in love with. The colour I picked up is Frostbite and I've been using it in my inner corners. It's a beautiful white base with a hint of blue in it that makes me feel like Queen Elsa (heheh). It's so intensely pigmented and creamy, and it's just amazing quality for the price. I need to pick up a ton more shades and do a proper review with swatches so you can all see how great they are!

NYX Matte and High Voltage Lipsticks

Finally, what's a haul without a few lipsticks? I picked up a couple more shades of the NYX Matte Lipsticks because they're probably my favourite drugstore formula. The packaging is a little cheap, but they go on so creamy and they're really pigmented. While they're not as matte as Mac matte lipsticks and are more comparable to a satin finish, they stain your lips and last for hours. The shades I picked up are Aria, a beautiful purple I'll be wearing non-stop come the fall, and Bloody Mary, a gorgeous pinky red.

The last range I picked up are the relatively new NYX High Voltage Lipsticks in Flutter Kiss and Stone. I don't want to give away too much because I have a post about my full thoughts on these coming soon!

My Thoughts On | Too Faced Melted Lipstick in Fig

Too Faced Melted Lipstick in Fig

Since my discovery of liquid lipsticks I thought it was about time that I tried the hyped and loved Too Faced Melted Lipsticks. I was nervous to try this product because I've read that they have a glossy finish which I don't usually like, especially when it comes to brighter shades. I decided to play it safe and picked up only one shade--Fig, a beautiful mauve colour (because you can never have too many mauve lipsticks) to test the waters.

Too Faced Melted Lipstick in Fig

First of all, the colour is sooooo stunning. When you first put it on it almost looks like a purple colour, but once it dries down it becomes a beautiful dark mauve that I've been wearing on a daily basis. It's one of those colours that would look good with virtually any eye look so it's perfect for everyday wear or even paired with a smoky eye for night! The finish is also completely different than I expected. It isn't glossy at all! It has a bit of a sheen to it but it dries down to a semi-matte finish (maybe comparable to Mac Satin finish lipsticks or Sephora Lustre Matte's). It doesn't have the longest staying power compared to liquid lipsticks like Sephora Cream Lip Stain, but it stains the crap out of your lips and it doesn't fade patchy or uneven. It will transfer a little so it isn't kiss proof, but it will resist talking, drinking, and light eating.

Too Faced Melted Lipstick in Fig

Too Faced Melted Lipsticks have a sponge tip applicator which I thought looked a little weird at first, but I was surprised at how easy to apply it actually is. You have to squeeze the tube to get the product out of the applicator, but the perfect amount comes out each time so you never have to worry about too much coming out and having a goopy mess everywhere. I found that application was the easiest if I continuously squeezed the tube as I was applying it. If you have a sharp cupid's bow like Nicole does you might want to touch up with a lip brush, but I was able to get pretty crisp lines using just the applicator.

Overall I'm in love with these and I'm itching to pick up a zillion more shades!

The Ultimate Spring Lipstick

Mac Flat Out Fabulous Review + Swatch

If you've been reading my blog you know I only recently got into Mac lipsticks but I've developed a full fledged obsession ever since. My love for them is unhealthy and I have a wishlist of shades I'm lusting over that's waaaaay too long and ahhh it's going to make me broke!  One shade I've been dying for is Flat Out Fabulous, which is a retro matte shade and I finally bought it. I'm supposed to be "saving" instead of shopping so when I came home from Mac I hid this beautiful baby from my boyfriend in my underwear drawer, but he ended up finding out anyway so the cat's out of the bag and now I get to share my thoughts with you guys!

Mac Flat Out Fabulous Review + Swatch
I'm a huge fan of bold lip colours, but I prefer the look of bright matte shades as opposed to glossy finishes. If you haven't tried a retro matte finish before, you NEED to. It's the most matte you'll ever find from a lipstick and the colours are so intense and beautiful. They tend to be a tad drying, but I found this shade to be less drying than Ruby Woo and when you apply lip balm beforehand it doesn't tug on the lips. One of my favourite things about retro matte finishes in particular is that they last forever on the lips, but you can easily remove them with a dry tissue.

Mac Flat Out Fabulous Review + Swatch
Can we just take in how stunning this colour is? It's so unique and I haven't been able to find anything quite like it at the drugstore or from high end brands. I've heard that the Colourpop Lippie Stix in Heart On is similar but I haven't tried it so I can't say for sure!

Mac Flat Out Fabulous Review + Swatch
If you're looking for a bold shade for Spring and Summer, you need this in your life. It's bright while still being wearable, and it's cool toned so it would look especially good on cool or fair skin tones. I know I'm going to be wearing it nonstop while the weather is still warm (and probably after that too because this shade is too beautiful to not wear all year round).

The Holy Grail of Beach Sprays

IMG_2655

If you know me you know that I wear my hair straight 99% of the time, mostly because my hair is already naturally pretty straight so doing it takes under 5 minutes with a blowdryer or flat iron. Still, I've always been obsessed with the way salt water makes my hair look. My hair looks so beautiful and wavy when I'm away on vacation and for years I've been on the hunt for a salt spray that would give me a similar effect without needing to hit the beach. For a while I was starting to think that salt sprays were a gimmick and that there was no way to recreate the look of beach waves outside the beach, but John Frieda Beach Blonde Sea Waves Salt Spray has proved me wrong.

First I want to say that I have no idea why it's called "Beach Blonde". It isn't intended specifically for blondes, so the only thing I can think of is that the idea of beachy hair is associated with blondes? It's stupid! Anyway, besides the name I love literally everything about this product. Apparently it was discontinued for years and the brand only recently brought it back due to popular demand. When I found that out I had to try it to see what all the hype was about and oh...my...god I'm so glad I did!!

IMG_2655 - Version 2

Let's start with the smell. This stuff literally smells like summer in a bottle. I guess if I had to describe it I would say it smells like coconut, but it isn't purely coconut and it isn't overpowering. Even when I'm wearing my hair straight I spray this in because of how good it smells. Second, it doesn't dry my hair out at all. I'm not sure how because even ocean water leaves my hair feeling a little dry but this spray is really gentle and leaves zero residue.

The most important thing about this product is IT ACTUALLY WORKS. My expectations were low because of my countless experiments with other beach sprays, but this one rocks. Spray a little bit on damp hair, sit out in the sun or let it air dry, and fool everyone into thinking you spent the day at the beach. Some tips I found that make waves more defined is to scrunch damp hair after application to add a little bit of texture and sort of prepare the waves. I find that the spray doesn't do much to dry hair or if I blow-dry my hair directly after applying it, but you could probably resolve that issue if you have a diffuser or if you use it on days you don't feel like using heat styling tools.

Wednesday's Weekly Roundup #3

I am sooooo tired. 40 hours a week serving is pooping me out and instead of doing something productive with my spare time I've been spending nearly every free moment catching up on blogs I love and browsing Sephora online. When I'm not doing that I'm watching Nashville. If you haven't watched this show, go watch it right now and thank me later. I'm not going to do it any justice by describing it but basically it's the cutest show ever about life, love, and country music. Even if you're not a fan of country music you'll still love this!

So even though I'm in Edmonton and not at home, I'm planning on redecorating my room when I get back so I've been searching for inspiration on Pinterest. I'm obsessed with this photo I found at Chapters/Indigo which I believe is by SS Print Shop. They have AMAZING prints and I plan on ordering and framing a ton to put in my room. Peonies are also something I would love to incorporate somehow because LOOK HOW PRETTY.

The weather in Alberta is warm but not as warm as Ontario, so I'm not wearing shorts just yet. When I'm not wearing my work uniform I'm wearing boyfriend jeans. They look so cute and make my legs look teeny tiny. I call them my fancy sweatpants.

Last but not least, I just found out two days ago that Mac is releasing new matte shades in June! AHHHHHHH! I'm so excited. Apparently Whirl is now going to be in lipstick form and I'm desperate to try it. The liner was a little too brown on me but I'm hoping the lipstick will be a little rosier? The shade Stone also looks really interesting and something I might need to try. You can check out a sneak peek of some of the new shades here. Let me know what shades you're most interested in!

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Kit | First Impressions

IMG_2666
I have really dry sensitive skin and I'm always on the hunt for products that'll give me the moisture I need but won't cause any breakouts. I've heard amazing things about First Aid Beauty for my skin type so I decided to give the brand a try! I bought the Ultra Repair Kit online which is limited edition and includes four full size products all valued at $108. At $53, the kit was a total steal and a great way to try some of their most popular products.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream: It's hard to tell from the picture but this is a maaaaassive tub of cream! It's large enough that I can use it on my face and all over my body without feeling like I'm wasting it all. It's really moisturizing but gentle enough that I can use it on my face and it doesn't break me out! I wouldn't say it's a holy grail product but I might not have used it long enough to say for sure.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Lip Therapy: I have the driest lips EVEEER and I'm always searching for a holy grail lip balm. I wanted so badly for this to be the one because I've read so many rave reviews about it but I hated it! I know hate is a strong word but it was horrible. It didn't provide any instant relief, the product sat on top of my lips, and it did absolutely nothing to improve the look/feel of them. I woke up in the morning with a fat lip so I must have had some sort of allergic reaction to it. I have celiac disease and the product has colloidal oatmeal in it so I'm thinking that might be the reason? I'm convinced that I must have gotten a bad batch because I can't imagine that a lip balm this bad could be so universally loved.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Kit Review

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Instant Oatmeal Mask:  Even though this product contains oatmeal I didn't have any reaction to it which I'm really relieved about! I'm thinking that with the lip balm I might have accidentally ingested it since it was on my lips, so I was really careful to keep this product far far faaaar away from my mouth. I don't know why but I was expecting it to have a chunky sort of consistency (like oatmeal) but it's pretty smooth except for some very small chunks. There's something so relaxing about applying a face mask and this one is awesome because it doesn't leave skin feeling dry or tight, and when you wash it off your skin will look smoother and cleaner. Again, not a holy grail product but I'm happy!

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Face Moisturizer: This is hands down my favourite product of the bunch. It's lightweight, absorbs into the skin instantly (and by instantly I mean INSTANTLY) and it doesn't break me out. It's the perfect everyday moisturizer if my skin isn't too too dry. On days where I have some flaking I'd probably turn to the Ultra Repair Cream instead.

None of these products are scented, so if that's a concern of yours you'll be very happy with these!

Drugstore Skin and Haircare Haul

IMG_2629
I recently moved to Edmonton for the summer and tried to limit what I brought to avoid getting nailed in charges at the airport for an overweight luggage. I ended up getting charged anyway (oops) but I brought hardly any cosmetics, hair or skincare products with me which means I had to buy everything all over again. I took it as an awesome opportunity to try new products I've been interested in and these are a few of the things I bought! I've been using all of these products for about two weeks so I think I have a pretty good grasp on how well they work and if I think they're worth picking up.

L'Oreal Sublime Soft Gentle Micellar Solution: Since trying Bioderma Sensible H20 I've been OBSESSED with micellar waters. I use them to remove all my makeup before washing my face with a cotton round and it leaves my skin feeling so clean and smooth. This L'Oreal version is a great alternative if you don't want to spend the money on Bioderma. I haven't tested it against waterproof makeup, but it removes regular makeup so easily and it's really gentle on the skin.

John Frieda Beach Blonde Sea Waves Salt Spray: I've always been skeptical that beach sprays work because I've tried a bunch of different brands and they've either dried out my hair, smelled funny, or did absolutely nothing. This beach spray is AMAZING! I won't go too much into detail because I'm going to dedicate a full post to its amazingness so stay tuned.

Live Clean Exotic Nectar Argan Oil Leave In Conditioner Spray: This isn't a new product to me but I had to buy it because it's the best detangling spray you can find at the drugstore. It's under $5, it smells amazing, and it leaves my hair incredibly soft. Just a few sprays on either side of my hair leaves it completely tangle free, and if you have dry or long hair you know how much of a pain brushing wet hair can be. This is the answer to all of your detangling prayers!

Neutrogena Pore Refining Toner: Using toner is something I always forget to do but I was drawn to the idea of a toner that could potentially reduce the look of the size of my pores. I know pores can't actually get smaller, but some products can make them look smaller and I was hoping this one would do the trick! The first thing I noticed is that it smells like I'm rubbing nail polish remover on my face. I have to literally hold my breath when I'm applying it because it smells that strong of alcohol. Other than that, it seems to be working okay.  My pores look a little bit smaller and it surprisingly hasn't caused dry skin or flaking which I'm already really prone to. Basically I'm not super impressed but not completely unimpressed either.

Rimmel London Provocalips 16Hr Kissproof Lip Colour vs. Sephora Cream Lip Stain

Rimmel London Provocalips 16Hr Kissproof Lip Colour vs. Sephora Cream Lip StainAs if my obsession with lipsticks wasn't big enough already, I've recently discovered liquid lipsticks (I know I know I'm insanely late on this) and I've been trying to test out different brands to figure out what formula is my favourite. So far I've tried a few, but I was especially curious to figure out how liquid lipsticks from the drugstore compare to high end brands. Right now my favourite high end liquid lipstick is the Sephora Cream Lip Stain which I reviewed in full here, but I've also heard great things about the Rimmel London Provocalips 16Hr Kissproof Lip Colour so I tested them both to figure out how they compare to each other!

The first thing I noticed is that the Provocalips applies a little sheer and uneven so it usually takes two coats to fully cover the lips. It's dual ended, so the first end gives colour while the second end keeps the lipstick in place and adds a little bit of shine. If you're thinking about skipping the second step, DON'T, because the formula is really sticky without it and it'll feel like you're wearing glue on your lips. It has a faint chemical smell to it but it's nothing too dramatic. As far as how long-lasting it is, it didn't budge until I ate dinner. Even then the colour was removed only from the inside of my lips, but it was definitely noticeable enough to have to reapply.

There were a few things I didn't love about the Provocalips. First, the finish isn't completely matte which could be something you love or hate depending on your preferences. It's also insanely hard to remove!! A wet baby wipe  and miscellar water wouldn't do it, so I had to run to the store and buy an oil based eye makeup remover which finally worked. Lastly, you can't reapply without removing it first because it'll look splotchy and uneven which is a pain, so I wouldn't recommend wearing it on days you'll be out for hours or won't have access to makeup remover.

Rimmel London Provocalips 16Hr Kissproof Lip Colour vs. Sephora Cream Lip Stain Swatches from top to bottom: Rimmel London Provocalips 16Hr Kissproof Lip Colour in Play with Fire and Sephora Cream Lip Stain in 01 Always Red

You can see from the swatch how uneven and sheer it first applies, but I feel like this wouldn't be as big of a problem with the lighter shades.

All in all, Sephora Cream Lip Stain is in a league of its own and it's just soooo much better. It's opaque, fully matte, it lasts forever on your lips and you can easily reapply without having to remove it. It's also a lot easier to remove! It's about double the price of Rimmel's Provocalips but at $16 it's priced at the lower end of high end liquid lipsticks and it's worth every penny. If you're trying to decide between the two your choice should be really easy!

Vaseline Spray & Go vs. St Ives Fresh Hydration Lotion

Vaseline Spray & Go vs. St Ives Fresh Hydration Lotion

If you read my blog you know I'm obsessed with Vaseline Spray & Go. I featured it in its own post here and mentioned it in my March favourites here. It's so moisturizing, insanely easy to apply, absorbs into the skin almost instantly, and it's cheap! You literally can't ask for anything else in a moisturizer and I'm completely obsessed with it.

Vaseline Spray & GoRecently I came across the St. Ives version and since I ran out of my Vaseline, I decided to give this version a try! The St. Ives Fresh Hydration Lotion comes in three different scents: Energizing Citrus & Vitamin C, Coconut Milk & Orchid, and Oatmeal & Shea. I chose the citrus scent because it reminded me most of summer. Besides the colouring the bottles are almost comically similar. The "New Continuous Spray" writing is located in the exact same spot on both bottles and they both have the cute little polka dots.

St Ives Fresh Hydration Lotion The packaging isn't where the similarities end. Like Vaseline Spray & Go, it's moisturizing, it absorbs instantly and application takes mere seconds to cover your entire body. I actually prefer the scents St. Ives offers so I'll probably repurchase this version in the future! I know I'm going to turn to this product a lot as the weather gets warmer to prolong my tan and I really recommend either one.

Mac Brave Drugstore Dupe

Mac Brave Dupe
Since discovering Mac Brave it's quickly become my favourite lipstick of all time. I've talked about it countless times on here but I'm going to keep talking about it because I love it so much! It's the perfect pinky nude that looks amazing on its own or paired with Mac Dervish liner or Mac Soar liner.  It's pretty similar to Mac Faux but I'd say it's a little bit on the pinker side. I think it's one of those shades that would look great on cool or warm skin tones and there's a reason that everyone raves about it.

Since discovering it I've been on the hunt to find a drugstore dupe because I'm notorious for losing my lipsticks, and I wanted a cheaper alternative that I could bring out with me for touch ups on nights I don't trust myself (aka nights where there might be a couple drinks involved). I'm so excited because I've finally found it!

Mac Brave Dupe
As you can see, NYX Matte Lipstick in Whipped Caviar is almost an exact dupe. Even though Brave is a satin finish and Whipped Caviar is a matte finish, NYX's matte line doesn't fully dry down to a matte finish and leaves a stain so I would say the formula is virtually identical. Whipped Caviar is slightly more drying, but for half the price of Brave it's definitely worth adding to your collection. If Brave is sold out in Mac stores near you or you can't stomach forking over the $20 for it you need Whipped Caviar! If you're Canadian and have a hard time finding NYX in stores I found mine at Rexall.

What do you think of this dupe?

Products I've Used Up | Empties #1

Products I've Used Up | Empties #1
I've been collecting empty products for AGES to do a post like this and the other day I realized that the bag had gotten so big that if I were to talk about them all in one go you guys would be reading for an hour. So I decided to divide it up and only talk about a few products at a time. I'll let you know what I thought about the product and if I'd repurchase or not.

Bioderma Sensibio H20 Micellar Water: This product is amazing and started what's going to be a life long addition with micellar waters. It leaves my skin feeling so fresh and clean, and it removes even waterproof makeup. I wrote a full review a while back here. Would I repurchase? Yes... but because it's so expensive I'm trying to find a micellar water I love equally but for less money.

L'Oreal Nutri-Shimmer Shine Detangling Care Review
L'Oreal Nutri-Shimmer Shine Detangling Care: I talked about this product in my March favourites here, and I'm in love with it. It smells great, I can spray a ton in my hair without it leaving residue or causing my hair to feel crunchy, and it really works! I spray it on wet hair after I get out of the shower and when I brush it I have zero tangles. Would I repurchase? YES YES!

Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion: This is the #1 best selling moisturizer on the Sephora website but it didn't wow me. It's a great everyday moisturizer and didn't make me break out which is definitely a positive but it wasn't strong enough for my dry skin, and I'd find myself applying multiple layers to give my skin the moisture it needs. Would I repurchase? No, but I would try the gel version!

Sephora 2 in 1 Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover Gel Review
Sephora 2 in 1 Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover Gel: An employee at Sephora recommended this to me because I'm prone to lash fallout if my makeup remover isn't gentle enough. I hate to be negative, but I really didn't like this product. It didn't remove my makeup unless I scrubbed my eyes, which obviously led to my lashes falling out. Sometimes I'd have four or five come out on a cotton pad which left me with patchy eyelashes for a few months. I can't find this on the Sephora website so I'm assuming it's discontinued or being reformulated? Would I repurchase? Even if I had the option, I definitely wouldn't.

Someday Perfume by Justin Bieber: Not that there's anything wrong with being a Justin Bieber fan, but I've never liked him. This perfume on the other hand... I LOVE. It smells so good without being too sickly sweet and it's really cheap! The packaging kind of reminds me of Marc Jacobs. It's definitely a guilty pleasure that I get a little embarrassed talking about but if you've tried this perfume you probably understand. Would I repurchase? I already have (heheh).

Maybelline Volum' Express Pumped Up! Volumizing Mascara Review

Maybelline Volum' Express Pumped Up! Volumizing Mascara: Besides having the longest name in the history of mascaras, this product did absolutely nothing for my lashes. I saw so many great reviews on YouTube and I was so excited to try it because it's an absolute steal in terms of price, but it didn't curl or lengthen my lashes. It might have added a little bit of volume but nothing to write home about. Would I repurchase? Nope.

Wednesday's Weekly Roundup #2

Wednesday's Weekly Roundup #2

For the second instalment of my Wednesday's Weekly Roundup, I've chosen some products I've been loving this week and surprisingly most of them aren't makeup related! P.S. It's a blizzard right now! A BLIZZARD! It's snowing so hard that work called and told me not to come in. IT'S MAY! So insane. Anyway....

MacBook Marble Patterned Hard Cover: I'm OBSESSED with this case for my laptop. It's so stunning in person and I'm just so happy with it. If you're interested, I ordered mine online from Amazon.

Michael Kors Women's Horn and Gold Coloured Parker Watch: I just started a new job serving for the summer and we aren't really allowed to wear accessories other than watches. This watch jazzes up my uniform and look at it! It's so beautiful. I've actually never seen anybody else with this exact watch even though tons of girls own a Michael Kors watch of some sort so I feel like it has a little bit of uniqueness. Link here.

La Roche-Posay Toleriane Dermo Cleanser: I received this product in a generous size sample when I purchased the Effaclar Duo+ and it's AMAZING! It is the only cleanser I've ever used that doesn't leave my skin feeling dry or tight before I apply moisturizer. I had a blemish and it cleared it in less than two days, and it leaves my skin feeling so soft. I wish it wasn't so expensive because I would never buy anything else.

Kat Von D Studded Lipstick in Bauhau5: I know a lot of people complain that these lipsticks are too drying but I haven't had the same experience with this shade. It's a beautiful raspberry colour that's so flattering on my fair skin, it lasts forever on my lips, and I know it's going to be my go-to shade for spring once it stops freaking snowing! For reference it looks a lot darker and more purple in the bullet than it does on the lips. If you're interested in a full review and swatch let me know in the comments!

Bath and Body Works Georgia Peach 3-Wick Candle and Plug-In: This scent is amaaaaaaaaaazing. I almost bought it in the hand soap as well but I decided to branch out and try something else. The plug-in has left my room smelling heavenly and the candle is self-explanatory because we all know Bath and Body Works has the best candles ever. I'm so excited to use this non-stop during the spring and summer!

Mel's April Favourites

Mel's April Favourites

Hi everyone! Before I say anything I want to give a huge thank you to whoever is reading this. Today our blog hit 10,000 views and even though a lot of those are probably my mom (heheh) we're so happy and grateful that people are checking out what we have to say.

Anywaaaay, before I become too sentimental let's get on to my April favourites! This has been an absolutely insane month for me. I graduated university, moved out of my house with my best friends and moved to a different province to live with my boyfriend for the next 4 months. Needless to say, it's been a hectic and emotional month but there have been a few products that have stood out to me that I thought I'd share!

Mel's April Favourites

Nivea Lip Butter in Raspberry Rose: This has been a holy grail lip balm for me this month and I'm so upset because I just realized I forgot to pack it with me! It smells like pink lemonade, and when I apply it before bed I wake up with the softest lips. I wouldn't recommend it for daytime use because sometimes it goes on white and it's really shiny, but for a night balm it's the beeeeeest.

L'Oreal True Match Lumi Foundation: I wrote a full post on how amazing this foundation is here, so I won't go too much in depth, but it's been my favourite face product lately. It has medium coverage so it won't fully cover any blemishes but it evens out my skin tone and makes my skin look really radiant. I would really recommend it for normal to dry skin types!

NYX Powder Blush in Taupe

NYX Powder Blush in Taupe: Even though this is a blush I've been using it to contour and it's AMAZING. It looks so natural but gives really noticeable definition to my face. It's replaced my love for the Clinique Chubby Contour Stick which I talked about here, so I'll probably do an updated contouring routine soon! If you have fair skin and find most contouring products look too warm or muddy, you need this in your life.

Mac Soar Lip Liner and Mac Velvet Teddy Lipstick

Mac Soar Lip Liner and Mac Velvet Teddy Lipstick: I don't think I need to say why these products are so amazing because chances are you've heard endless rants about them from other bloggers or you're in love with the two yourself. Either way, Soar is the most beautiful colour and the formula is really creamy for a lip liner. Velvet Teddy is a matte lipstick that isn't too drying and wears pretty brown on its own, but paired with Soar it's a gorgeous dark nude that looks really good with my fair skin. To see swatches of the two, check out here and here.

So those are my favourites this month! What products have you discovered in April?

What's In My Topbox | April 2015

Topbox April 2015 Unboxing

Okay so I know I'm the worst blogger ever because I technically received my Topbox two weeks ago but I've had the craziest month so I haven't had a free second to take photos of the products or even use them! Even though I'm a lot late in showing you all this, I thought better late than never so here it is! For those of you who don't know, Topbox is a Canadian subscription box where you get sent 4 or 5 high end samples each month for $12. This is what I received this month:

Caudalie Vinosource S.O.S Thirst Quenching Serum: According to Sephora this is a "an oil-free serum that captures and continually diffuses water deep within the skin to restore its moisture balance and leave skin feeling soft and supple". I'm a beginner when it comes to serums but I've actually heard a lot about this one so I'm excited to see if it works! Full size retails for $52, and my size is 0.33 oz making it worth $17.33.

Essie Mini Nail Lacquer: I'm sure you're all familiar with Essie and how great their nail polishes are so I was so excited to receive this little cutie! The shade is called Blossom Dandy and it's the perfect colour for spring. Full size retails for $9.99, and my size is 5mL making it worth $3.70.

Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Lotion Sunscreen: As the weather is starting to get warmer I know I'll definitely make use of this sunscreen! It's SPF 30 and smells reaaaaally good. Not the most glamorous product in the world but you can always use more sunscreen. Full size retails for $8.97, and my size is 59 mL making it worth $2.99.

LA Splash Diamond Lipgloss: Next is a full sized product, but I'm not entirely sure how I feel about it. It looks insanely sparkly in the tube but goes on more shimmery on the lips. Not my favourite product in the world but I'm biased because I'm not a fan of lip glosses in general. This lipgloss is worth $8.98.

NeoStrata Moisture Infusion Hydrating Cream: This is another product I'm excited about because I've heard great things about the brand and that it's well suited for sensitive skin. Moisturizer is something I'm always out of because my skin is so dry, so I was definitely happy to see this in my box! Full size retails for $30, and my size is 20 mL making it worth $12.

Total Value of my Topbox: $45

$45 is well over the $12 I spent so I'm very happy! Even though these weren't all wow products to me I'll definitely make use out of all of them and I like how I recognized 4/5 of the brands. If you've heard about or tried LA Splash products let me know in the comments what you think!

What do you think of this month's (or I guess last month's... oops) Topbox?
