Maybelline Lash Sensational vs. Benefit Roller Lash Mascara

Maybelline Lash Sensational vs. Benefit Rollerlash Mascara

I recently repurchased an old favourite mascara (Benefit Roller Lash) and a new favourite mascara (Maybelline Lash Sensational) and realized that they seemed insanely similar to one another. I remember when these mascaras first released people were comparing them and saying that the Maybelline version was a cheaper dupe for Benefit's Roller Lash, but I wanted to test them out again and see which was better.

The first wand pictured is the Lash Sensational and the second is the Roller Lash. As you can see, they're both very similar! They're both rubberized and curved, but the Lash Sensational is almost double the thickness. I find that it picks up a lot more product at once than the Roller Lash, which means it can get clumpy very easily. It's not very buildable, and I usually apply only one coat, but this will obviously differ depending on your preference. If you don't mind the clumpy look, you could do two easily. With that being said, I LOVE this mascara. It curls my lashes like no other mascara I've ever used, and keeps the curl all day long. I never experience any flaking or smudging, and it isn't difficult to remove at the end of the day.

The Benefit Roller Lash is another great mascara, but considering it's three times the price of the Lash Sensational I would argue that it isn't as good. It's a lot more buildable, so you could do two or three coats without too many clumps, but it doesn't give me the dramatic curl that the Lash Sensational does. It also flakes and tends to smudge a little bit throughout the day. It isn't anything crazy, but if I'm spending $30 on a mascara, it needs to be perfect and this one isn't.

All in all, I would say both mascaras are great and worth trying, but if I had to repurchase one it would be Maybelline's Lash Sensational. I might even go so far as to say it's my favourite mascara of all time....

Have you tried either of these mascaras?

New At the Drugstore: L'Oreal Pro Matte Gloss

L'Oreal Pro Matte Gloss Bare Attraction

Hi guys!!! It feels like forever since I've sat down and wrote anything on here, but I've recently been re-inspired because there have been a TON of makeup launches at the drugstore and at Sephora  and I want to try everything that my bank account will let me.

If you watch YouTube then you've probably seen the new L'Oreal Pro Matte Glosses hauled in just about every beauty blogging related video lately. After seeing Tati from GlamLifeGuru swatch all of them and rave about them, I knew I had to try them out! I'll link her swatch video here because she is the Queen.

L'Oreal Pro Matte Gloss Bare Attraction

I picked up the lightest shade in the range called "Bare Attraction". It's definitely a peachy nude and unfortunately isn't the most flattering on my pale skin (it looks so much better on Tati!!!), but I know that when I'm self-tanned I'll be wearing it a ton.

The main things you need to know about this product are in the name: it applies like a gloss, feels like a gloss, but is completely matte. It's actually pretty unusual but I'm loving it. If you want this thinking it will be a drugstore version of a liquid lipstick, it definitely isn't. It doesn't dry down, it remains "wet" for lack of a better word on your lips, it transfers, and it isn't very long lasting... but you can't take points off for that because it doesn't claim to be a liquid lipstick.

I'm babbling as always but all in all I love this product. They are super comfortable, decently hydrating, and perfect for days I want a matte lip (every day) but don't want to deal with the dryness. They won't last through a meal, but they do wear off evenly! This is the lightest colour in the range, and most of the shades are ones I don't typically go for on a day to day basis, but I would buy 20 more if they did!

Have you tried these yet?!
